New Short: Say No to Diagonal Walking!

I recently spoke about a robots short on the horizon as my next big project. For a variety of reasons, I’m pushing that film to the spring. In the meantime, I’m plowing forward with a number of smaller films. I’m thinking of them as a chance to try something new and experiment with a little movie magic. Anyone from NYC will sympathize with the first one:

Ever been stuck behind a diagonal walker? One of those people who manage to drift in your way every time you’re in a rush? Then the film I shot two weeks ago is for you. A mock PSA against diagonal walkers, drifting all over the sidewalk and obstructing the flow of pedestrian traffic.

This project was a chance to practice some green screen work for a big digital effect finale. Without spoiling the ending too much, let’s just say the victim in this story shouldn’t have stepped out into the street. Funny note: the day was windier than expected and the green screen was like a giant sail. We needed every spare hand, cast and crew, to hold the damn thing.

I want to throw out a big thank you to the family and friends who agreed to be extras on this project, which consisted of walking back and forth on a sidewalk in moderately rainy weather. I'd also like to thank my friends Justin Andrew Davis, who is currently in prepro for his short You Look Great and Tony Keefe for starring in this film. All of you rocked it.

I’m currently editing and hope to finish in the next month or so. In the meantime, I’m in preproduction for the next one and all I’m going to say is it involves zombies – can’t freaking wait.
